About 2 500 thousand Serbs have received biometric passports of Kosovo so far, and soon is expected to have also biometric ID cards. Thus said the Interior Minister, Bajram Rexhepi, during the visit he has made to the Department for Production of Documents.

He called this the most successful department in the Civil Registry Agency.
"138 thousand biometric passports have been produced so far in Kosovo, approximately 13 thousand of them were distributed through various consulates; it means that approximately 10% of passports have been taken through various consulates, so it is quite great number, "he said.
Regarding ID-s, he said there were produced 1 million 362 and thousand ID cards so far.
Regarding the Serb community, he said that until now they have received approximately 44 thousand ID cards and about 2 thousand and 500 biometric passports.
"For the Serbian community there are approximately 43 to 44 thousand ID cards, passports and 43 thousand and 537.

Rexhepi said that while migrants are in Kosovo, their documents are prepared for only five days, and he has explained that in special cases passports are made within two hours, as it is foreseen in administrative instructions.
Minister Rexhepi said they are claiming that soon they will provide us with biometric ID cards, with driving licenses and perhaps with other documents.
He has promised to do everything to set this department, which he calls a specific place in a facility where the work would be easier and safer, because they currently are operating in the facility managed by KPA.
"We have planned a facility, but there are being built the garages for police, and there is a space that is property of Horticulture, but we will make a request to Pristina municipality, to have understanding, or to give to us a complex with terms of safety and closeness. If we get positive answer, we will have a donation by our budget, but we will also require donations from the European Commission for the facility to be a proper facility, "he said.
Rexhepi, during this visit has given recognition to this department for work done, but he could not promise increase of wages. All he has promised is the systematization of jobs for them.
