Rexhepi made these comments today in Prishtina, by saying that regardless of criticisms, KFOR is the most successful international mission in Kosova so far.
“I can say that the KFOR mission is the most successful international mission in Kosova so far, however there is a part that KFOR could have done more, but it has not done. However, KFOR has credibility as well among citizens and institutions of Kosova, however the general should not take them personally. The criticisms where they are needed, but he should take them as such. Perhaps they are related to his personal command,” Rexhepi said.
Rexhepi said that the other barricades were removed, but this one on Iber river has remained, which, according to him, can be removed for two hours, however they are analyzing the situation in order not to have tensions and violence.
“Physically barricades can be removed quickly, for one or two hours. There is the issue of not causing tensions and violence. Those things are considered, otherwise they can be removed physically very fast without any problem,” Rexhepi said.
The commander of KFOR, general Erhard Drews said yesterday in a visit to Mitrovica that the barricade on the main bridge is a shame, as it has the character of partition of the city, which, according to him, in fact is not parted.
He said that this barricade is a strong political symbol and it is not reasonable to remove such symbols by force. According to him, the logic of those who have put that barricade will not change even if it will be removed, on the contrary it can create opposite consequences, thus reasonable actions are needed.
