In Vushtrria, cows kept free now

Farm called "Model" has capacity for holding 20 cows, with production capacity of 100,000 liters of milk per year.

The beneficiary of this project owner of the farm Nazmi Osmani who has participated with 10% of cost of the equipment said that besides from all others, also the number of employees will be increased.

"The purpose of this farm is to train other farmers. Cows here have plenty of air, lightning, cleanness, so they meet all standards. It was built in order that others to take example. Besides milk also the cows will be better. With increase of cattle also the number of workers will be increased. "he said.

While the director of Agricultural Development Initiative of Kosovo (ADIK), said that besides other benefits, it is important that milk hygiene will be improved.

"This farm is a model farm, which must serve farms and farmers in Kosovo and all the others, on how the dairy production and keeping the cows free in these stalls should be oriented in future.

We believe that through this farm will improve milk hygiene and the farmers will obtain revenues, and what is most important is that farmers will learn from this farm. Also the factories for the production of milk will have less work because milk produced in this farm is more hygienic, "he said.

The chief of operations in the European Commission Liaison Office Kristof Shtok said that besides increase of jobs we could also become export competitors.

"Firstly, we want to improve hygiene and sanitary conditions in farms, then the quality of milk and meat produced in these farms, and the third is to improve and health of people.

These projects will improve the socio-economic situation in the region, but also will affect the creation of new jobs, production of milk and meat with high quality, which can be competitive and can be used for exports "he said.

While Behlul Behluli, adviser at the Ministry of Agriculture, said that the farm provides comfort for cows and for work that is being done, by providing the results of production as quantity but also as quality.

"This year 3 million euro were allocated for farming. We will continue with this support and we know that we have a long path to reach together because our goals are much farther than we are now. I believe that we all together should firstly convince ourselves that we are able and willing to advance this primary sector to the level that would be competitive with all the states that today supply Kosovo with livestock products, "he said.
