Chief of Parliamentary Group of Vetevendosje Movement, Visar Ymeri said that privatization of distribution and supply of electricity must be stopped.
According to him, the proposal of the Government Committee for Privatization, after they opened bids for distribution, that should be continued with the privatization of this company, and approving the government has done to this proposal, has no economic logic and is extremely harmful in strategic terms.
Ymeri said the distribution of electricity, including its market and network are Kosovo public property and they must remain so because the power supply is necessary and right that each citizen should enjoy.
Chief of the Parliamentary Group of Vetëvendosje Movement said that private monopoly cannot be good for the economy and citizens in any way.
"The infrastructure of power distribution is a natural monopoly. It is not logical that each energy provider to build a separate distribution network. Private monopoly cannot be good for the economy nor to citizens in any way, because its control for the energy sector becomes absolute. The control of electricity is control for the state, economy and society, "said Ymeri.
Also, he wanted to know what is being sold and is there any assessment of the company's property that is being sold.
He has also provided information about privatization in Montenegro and in Macedonia, where these distributions were sold about hundreds of millions of euro, while in Kosovo to 26.3 million euro.
While the Minister of Economic Development, Besim Beqaj, said that the Government of Kosovo, according to the Constitution of the Republic and in accordance with
vision for sustainable economic development, was set for economic structural reforms, for functioning of market economy, for empowering of the private sector, for establishing high professional and institutional standards in function of sustainable economic increase and the creation of new vacancies.
