Production of aromatic medicinal plants is regenerating

These were announced today in Syne of Istog, while the Minister of Agriculture Blerand Stavileci and director of the USAID mission in Kosovo, Maureen Shauket, have visited the "AgroproduktSyne" company in Syne village of Istog, which does the collection of aromatic-medicinal plants and collection of mountain fruits.

Shauket has announced that until now, they have provided technical assistance to this company, in amount of 7 thousand euros, also 35 thousand euros for purchasing of panels and breezy equipment and 120 thousand saffron roots.

"We have provided technical assistance that they can expand market and increase the number of vacancies in the municipality. We have also donated a grant, so they can have breezy equipment and technical assistance, "she said.

While Minister Stavileci, said such points as the one in Kosovo are about 6, but it is estimated to 4 thousand collectors, and according to him, this indicates that there is a great human potential.

"This productivity of aromatic- medicinal plants and other plants of this nature is one of the most interesting activity in our country, there are many people who do this job, whether by its cultivation or its collection. These regions have a very promising future, with an activity, which also in the past has been cultivated, but especially now is seen that it is regenerating and there are a lot of people with good will, but who now are conscious " he said.

And according to him, there is getting a specific program for these plants.

"We believe in our future plans we may also have a specific program, for medicinal- aromatic plants. We believe this activity which is very profitable, can provide us with very good revenues for our farmers. For those who make their processing and cultivation, but especially for those who do collection, because there are thousands of families who provide their revenues from this activity, "he said.

While the owner of the "AgroproduktSyne" enterprise has indicated for their capacity.

"Based on the evidence that we have, there are 3 thousand 200 collectors in the entire territory of Kosovo are included, and there are 32 collection centers, which are all equipped with dryers and related machinery. Currently we have 80 hectares planted with medicinal and aromatic plants, with 16 species of medicinal plants," he said.
