The decision taken by the Ministry of Trade for application of safeguard measures on import of cement should be canceled, and that the fee increased from 35% is against any economic logic, also against any political goal. This was said on Monday in protest-conference held by the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce (OEK) with Kosovar importers of cement.

The importers have requested the removal of this fee because according to them, since seven days, 200 firms that have bought cement in Fushė Krujė are blocked, and two thousand workers have remained without their jobs during these days.
In the conference was said that Sharrcem company meets 40% of the market, Fushė Kruja meets 32%, Titan Skopje meets 19% of the market.
The Chairman of OEK, Safet Gėrxhaliu, said that economic advancement should be the priority, and the interests of all should be protected and not selectively.
According to him, the decision taken by the Ministry of Trade is the result of prior failure to consult and getting it in the ad-hock way.
Gėrxhaliu has put it in question whether the functioning of the cement market in Kosovo has been analyzed.
"We did not want that past and the difficulties we had with the export of potatoes to be repeated, we thought and I want to trust that we have learned a lot form the past, that barriers are not in favor of promoting economic cooperation, especially between states a divided nation. Such access is frivolous to us themselves, but above all it is frivolous to the international factor, "he said.
While Nikolin Jaka, from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Albania has said there is no argument to understand the decision taken by the Ministry of Trade of Kosovo and its leader Mimoza Kusari-Lila.
"We could not find a logical argument at any point which entitles this ministry for setting this fee. We must work for a free market, fair competition and market prices to be affordable for traders but also for consumers. In the concrete case for fee set at the rate of 35% is against to any economic logic, but also to any political goal, "he said.
The ambassador of Albania in Kosovo, Islam Lauka, said that this decision is premature, an abnormal situation is created, and according to him, the consultation would be the least that the Ministry of Trade should have done.
Lauka said that this is a logic that leads nowhere and is useless.
"The state administration in Albania and in Kosovo, do not want to put obstacles and barriers, on contrary, they want to soften them if they exist, or to eliminate or remove them, and this is the essence of understanding the work of administration as we always say that we are servants of our people and its interests, and when time comes they put such absurd barriers, he said.
