KFOR and EULEX expressed commitment for setting rule of law in entire territory of Kosova and to free the roads in north part. The officials of these missions emphasized that violence is unacceptable and they will not allow anyone to act against the law.
The officials of KFOR and EULEX held a joint press conference on recent developments in north, and they informed on the course of events that happened in the border crossing point Jarinje.
According to them, the violence as as a result of provocations by Serbian extremists.
The spokesperson for KFOR, Ralph Adametz said that the violence started when a group of Serbs with civilian vehicle approached to peacekeeping troops and tried to break the stop that was placed by soldiers.
Although he did not comment on the weapons that were used by KFOR, Adametz made it clear that they were not lethal weapons, whereas he emphasized that peacekeeping forces will react if the life of soldiers is threatened or risked, as well of citizens of Kosova.
Whereas the spokesperson for EULEX Mission, Nicholas Howton said that the rule of law is key element to have normal life as well in north Kosova and in frame of this, barricades should be removed.
