At the official opening of this event, the minister Makolli has said for cultural activities that are being made for Diaspora come at a time when Albanians have various holidays, such as 100-anniversary of the Albanian state, the 134th anniversary of the League of Prizren, 13th year anniversary of the liberation of Kosovo and 4th year anniversary of its independence.
He, addressing to the participants, has considered the Albanian Diaspora as a national asset, which in his opinion, constitutes about 30 percent of Kosovo's population.
"Our Diaspora is not that of 20 or 30 years ago. Our Diaspora today is a national, political, intellectual, academic, cultural and sport asset and in all areas, and of course it has a special attention by state institutions.
Kosovo institutions and the Kosovar society, with the fact it has already established state mechanisms in care of Diaspora, once again proves the commitment that institutions have in general in treatment of with this part of the people, which numerically is not small, it constitutes approximately 25 to 30 percent of our people, "he said.
He added that organizing of such activities is being done in order to organize a cultural life for the migrants while they are at homeland.
He also invited all compatriots to participate in the central day of Diaspora, which is marked on August 4 in Prekaz.
Minister Makolli on this occasion has also spoke about poet Ali Podrimja's death, saying his death has depleted Albanian culture in general, however, his work and deed will live forever in the memory of the Albanian people.
While Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Hajdin Abazi, said that organizing the days for Diaspora is something special, because, as he said it is a good opportunity for people to meet and perform various activities. He added that he understands very well the feelings of immigrants because he himself was a migrant for about 20 years.
"This is a special day for us, because in these days of Ferizajs Diaspora we have an opportunity to meet each other, but also to perform various activities, as I personally was a migrant for about 20 years and I know how does everyone feel when you return at your homeland, at birthplace, what do you hope, what you expect, firstly, to see your friends of your childhood, later to see the changes that have happened recently in our municipality and throughout Kosovo, "he said.
