In the meeting of the Government that was held today, he said that 2 July 2012 marks a symbolic date, as well as historical for Kosova.
Thaçi said that this day proves that a long and difficult way was done, full of sacrifices, but successful one for citizens of Kosova.
Moreover, he said that the decision of July 2 has opened a new chapter of Kosova’s state for integration in NATO and EU.
“The concrete chapter of Kosova’s state in NATO and EU is open. I stress that the entire International Steering Group was unanimous in supporting the progress in Kosova and supporting the decision on completion of supervised independence,” Thaçi said.
He considered that everyone has done great job together, which has made Kosova a respected country not only in the region, but as well wider.
Moreover, he highly evaluated the work of the International Civil Office on implementation of Ahtisaari’s Plan, adding that now the institutions should continue rule of law.
However, he mentioned as well the Serb community and said that this community in northern part of the country should integrate and enjoy all rights foreseen by Kosova’s Constitution.
“I reemphasize our pledge for inclusion of communities, especially Serb community in northern part to enjoy all rights set by Kosova’s laws and Constitution. In this aspect we have pledged to find the basis for extension of EULEX until June 2014,” Thaçi said.
