Ibrahim Gashi seems to have support from the governmental coalition, after his resignation from the post of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and from the post of deputy chairman of AKR.
Competition for the post of rector in University of Pristina has ended today in the afternoon and seven professors of UP have applied for it. They are Asst. Prof. Ibrahim Gashi, then Prof.Dr. Valon Murtezaj, lecturer at the University of France,
Prof. Dr. Blerim Ramosaj, Asst. Prof. Fadil Maloku, Prof. Dr. Isa Elezaj, Prof. Dr.Abdullah Zejnullahu, and Asst. Prof. Nasser Zabeli.
The news was announced by spokeswoman of UP, Ferdane Llonçari, who said that up to 16.00 these seven candidates have applied for the rector of the UP.
Llonçari: Rector is elected by the Senate
"Procedures will be developed basing on the regulation and candidates who have applied will participate in the interpellation and will be selected through the Senate," said Llonçari.
Although since 1964 the University of Pristina has tended to be autonomous it seems that lately it cannot be separated from policy as besides the candidacy of Ibrahim Gashi from AKR, there is another member of this party and representative of this party to the CEC Fadil Maloku, who aims to be in charge of UP.
Also Isa Elazaj who is a member of Vetëvendosje Movement and candidate for MP in recent elections in this party and who was dean in faculty of natural sciences during years 2006-2009 has applied.
One other person that has applied is Berim Ramosaj, who has been member of the LDK, then a member of LDD and then has returned to LDK again.
Candidates who are deemed to have fulfilled the requirements will be addressed with an interpellation to Senate, where is expected that each candidate presents a comprehensive vision for the future development strategy of the University and for his management approach.
Otherwise, in Article 23 and paragraph 9 and Article 26 of the Statute of the University of Pristina is said that the rector is elected by the Governing Council of UP, respectively in the list of five names proposed by the Senate. / L.Gashi /
