The information was confirmed to Kosovapress by the advisor to minister Buja, Ragip Gjoshi, who said that the ministry of education has signed the administrative instruction that opens the way for fair elections.
“Students’ elections can be held. There is enough time when students are in the learning process during the academic year. It means that they can be completed by the end of May. However, we are informed that the university bodies have announced students’ elections, however with the administrative instruction it is assured that October 1 will be the last day when the new rector and other university bodies will be elected,” Gjoshi said.
He provided explanation on why they have not considered the decision of the Steering Council of UP on postponing the elections due to the amendment of the statute of UP, by saying that they have taken this decision as the statute of University of Prishtina requires a procedure of approval, including the ratification in Kosova’s Parliament, which can be delayed.
