The prime minister of Kosova, Hashim Thaçi, in the opening of the forum, presented the achievements of Kosovas Government in the function of strengthening the private sector. He said that the Government of Kosova has worked on improving the environment for investments, adding that since 2009 it has changed the tax policy in favor of business community. According to him, the Government of Kosova, through the reforms on doing business, is committed to do more in creating a stable and safe business environment. Kosova, as he said, is a new country, but it is a country of great possibilities and Kosovas Government offers sufficient support for appropriate environment for all investors who want to invest in Kosova.
The Government of Kosova is aware that foreign investments have the stimulation of economic development in private sector. The foreign investments have had important role in economic development in many countries, especially in countries in transition. Thus, the Government of Kosova, in frame of strategic priorities, has identified the development of private sector as generator of business activities. Whereas it considers the foreign investments as important contributors in this issue, Thaçi said.
He said in front of foreign investors that Kosovas economy has remained strong in this period of international economy crisis and the macro-economic development was stable with an economic growth of 5%. According to him, this was realized thanks to macro-economic and macro-fiscal policies of Kosovas Government. He mentioned some reasons to invest in Kosova, as the young workforce, the favorable fiscal policy and preferential measures with EU and USA.
Whereas, the Swiss ambassador to Kosova, Krystyna Marty Lang said that this forum is a good opportunity for potential investors to know Kosova and its potential. She said that Switzerland has great relations with Kosova in all fields, especially with regard to investments.
