World Bank is ready to support the Strategy on Economic Development

Beqaj said that this is an engagement that the World bank has done and continues doing it strongly, because such a visit if not often, as well the recent support by the group of World Bank.

Beqaj said that the talks with the World Bank have started yesterday over their long-term engagement that they have done until now, on their readiness to support the strategy of economic development, starting from the energy, agricultural, education and all other sectors. Beqaj considered the visit of WB group in Kosova as very important for the Government and state of Kosova, on the confirmation of engagement for economic development of Kosova.

According to him, for the first time the WB group has started drafting the strategy for partnership with Kosova, which shows that the WB group is treating Kosova as a state, as well by being member with equal rights in this mechanism.

“In the energy projects we have a great support of WB towards the construction of new capacities, in constructing of the power plant Kosova e Re with 600 MW, a project that was confirmed with the study of options by WB, with the visit and study that was done by independent panel of experts, which was followed with a letter from WB on the readiness to set in principle the partial risk guarantee. It is very important that we have today this readiness with the visit of three vice presidents of WB, who provide additional guarantee for potential investors, and there is strong support in this sector,” Beqaj said.

The vice president of the World Bank for Europe and Central Asia, Phlippe Le Houerou considered this relation with Kosova as very important on the preparation of the first strategy of partnership between Kosova and WB. He said that this strategy will be presented in front of the board within two months.
